Contact us
Email fishburg.sandbox@outlook.com. It helps if you include:
- your device model (iPhone, iPad or Android phone) and its iOS, iPadOS or Android version;
- the Fishburg version and build (shown at the bottom of Settings → About in the game);
- what happened, and a screenshot if you can.
For purchase problems, the order ID from Apple's or Google Play's receipt email is useful. Never send us card details or your Apple Account or Google Account password. We try to reply within a few working days.
Frequently asked questions
Progress and saving
Where is my game saved?
On your device, with a backup copy on our server. There is no sign-up: when the game first starts with an internet connection, it creates an anonymous account by itself (no email, no password) and keeps a copy of your save with it, updated at most every 2 minutes and when you leave the game. Only your own game can read that copy. (If you join Friends, your friends see a separate read-only copy of how your tanks look, without the names.) Your aquarium keeps "living" while the app is closed: fish grow and get hungry, and the glass slowly gets dirty, in real time. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
I deleted the app or got a new device. Can I get my progress back?
Usually yes, by itself. Open Fishburg with an internet connection: after a reinstall on the same device, or on a new device that you set up from an iCloud backup, an encrypted computer backup or Quick Start, the game signs in to your account again and brings back the backup copy of your game. Remove Ads comes back with Settings → General → Restore Purchases.
On Android, the same works through Android's own backup: if your phone is backed up (Google One backup) or you set up the new phone by transferring from the old one, reinstalling Fishburg from Google Play or opening it on the new phone brings back the same player. Without such a backup, a reinstall starts a new game.
It can't come back on a new device set up without a backup or transfer (or from an unencrypted computer backup of a different device), or after you deleted the social account. Your iPhone and your iPad are two separate players. A game cannot move between an iPhone or iPad and an Android phone.
How do I start over?
Deleting the app does not reset the game when the reinstalled game finds your account and its backup copy again (on iPhone and iPad always, on Android when the phone has an Android backup). To really start over, first open Settings → About → Delete social account in the game, then delete the app and install it again.
Will changing my device's clock speed things up?
No. The game notices when the clock goes backwards and doesn't grant extra progress. It's best to leave the date and time set automatically.
Purchases
How do I restore my purchases?
Open Settings → General → Restore Purchases in the game, signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy. On Android, the same button asks Google Play again for your purchases; use the Google Account you bought with. This restores Remove Ads. Gem packs, coin packs and the Starter Pack are used up when you buy them: their gems and coins live in your game save. Restore Purchases can't bring them back, but they come back with the backup copy of your game (see I deleted the app or got a new device).
I paid but didn't get my gems or coins.
Make sure you're online, close Fishburg completely and open it again. The game finishes any pending purchase when it starts. If they still don't appear, email us with the order ID from Apple's or Google Play's receipt.
Where did the Starter Pack go?
The Starter Pack can be bought once per game save. After you buy it, it disappears from the Store.
How do I get a refund?
Payments go through Apple or Google Play, so refunds do too. You can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, or from Google Play.
Game Center
How do the leaderboard and achievements work?
If you're signed in to Game Center, your total XP goes to the Fishburg leaderboard and each award tier you reach unlocks an achievement. Tap the Game Center button at the bottom right of the main screen to see them.
How do I sign in or out of Game Center?
Go to iOS Settings → Game Center. The game works fully without Game Center; your awards are still saved on your device.
Is there Game Center on Android?
No. Game Center is Apple's, so the Android version has no leaderboard. Your awards are shown in the game under Awards and saved with your game.
Notifications
How do the reminders work?
Fishburg can remind you when a fish is hungry, when a fish is about to starve, when an egg has hatched, when the glass needs cleaning and when your Free Gift is ready. You get at most three reminders a day and none between 22:00 and 09:00. Reminders are created on your device by the game, and no server is involved. Notifications about friends come from our server and have limits of their own (see the next question).
Do I get notifications about friends?
Yes, if you have joined Friends, the Notifications switch in the game's Settings is on and you have allowed notifications for Fishburg. You get them when you receive a friend request, when a friend request of yours is accepted, when someone likes your tank and when a friend cleans your glass. The game shows no extra permission prompt for this. These are push notifications: the game stores a push token for your device with your social account, and our server sends the text through Expo's push service and Apple's push service (on Android, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging).
They follow rules like the reminders, in your local time: none between 22:00 and 09:00 (what arrives at night comes after 09:00 as one notification), at most three a day (in addition to the reminders), and at least 30 minutes between two of them. Events that come close together are grouped into one notification, such as "You have 3 new updates from friends", so a notification arrives a minute or two after the event. An event that could not be sent within 12 hours is not sent. The Inbox in Friends always shows every event. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I turn notifications off (or on again)?
Use the notification switches in the game's Settings (one for all reminders and one for each kind), or go to iOS Settings → Notifications → Fishburg. Your fish still get hungry with reminders off, so check in now and then or use Vacation Mode. The switch for all reminders also stops notifications about friends on this device, and switching it back on starts them again; the switches for single kinds do not affect them. Turning notifications off in iOS Settings → Notifications → Fishburg stops both.
On Android, the switches in the game work the same way. In Android Settings → Apps → Fishburg → Notifications (the path differs between phones) you can turn all of Fishburg's notifications off, or only one category: "Aquarium reminders", "Aquarium reminders (silent)" (used when the game's sound is off) or "Friends". On Android 13 and newer the game asks for permission first; if you said no, allow notifications for Fishburg there.
Friends
How do I add a friend?
Open Friends in the game. The first time, read the rules and tap Accept and join. Then tap Add friend, type your friend's player ID (it looks like FB-ABCD-2345 and is shown on their Friends screen), tap Find and then Send request. When your friend accepts it under Requests, you are friends and can visit each other's tanks. To give your own player ID to a friend, use Copy or Share next to it on the Friends screen, or Settings → About → Share Fishburg. Friends needs an internet connection.
What is my player ID, and what can other players see?
Your player ID looks like FB-XXXX-XXXX and is shown on the Friends screen. Another player needs it to send you a friend request. Anyone who enters it sees your display name and level. Only friends you have accepted can look at your tanks. Fishburg has no chat. The Privacy Policy has the full list of what is stored.
What happens when a friend cleans my glass?
Your glass becomes clean in your own game too, the next time your game is online. Your friend gets a small coin reward: once per friend per day, for at most ten cleanings a day. You get no coins for glass that a friend cleaned. You see who cleaned it in the Inbox in Friends, and, if notifications about friends are on, you also get a notification about it (see Do I get notifications about friends?).
How do I report a player?
Open that player in Friends (a friend, or someone who sent you a friend request) and choose Report, pick a reason and add a note if you like. You can report the same player once a day. We review every report, remove offensive names and delete abusive accounts, and we aim to act within 24 hours. You can also email fishburg.sandbox@outlook.com with the player's ID and what happened.
How do I block a player?
Open that player in Friends and choose Block. A blocked player sees nothing of yours: no name, no level and no tanks.
How do I delete my social account?
In the game, open Settings → About → Delete social account. The account and everything stored with it on the server (the backup copy of your game, the sign-in, player ID, display name, level, the copy of your tanks, friends, likes, blocks, inbox, push tokens and the record of notifications sent) are removed at once. Your aquarium on your device is not touched, but it can no longer be brought back after a reinstall or on a new device. No new account is created afterwards, and no backup copy is made. If you later open Friends and join again, you get a brand-new account with a new player ID. All the details are on Delete your account.
I no longer have the app. Can you delete my social account?
Yes. Email fishburg.sandbox@outlook.com from any address with your player ID (FB-XXXX-XXXX) and ask us to delete the account, together with the backup copy of your game. We delete it and answer you within 30 days. The player ID is the only way we can find it, because the account holds no name or real email address. See Delete your account.
Ads and privacy
Do I have to watch ads?
No. Rewarded ads are always your choice. You might occasionally see a full-screen ad after a level-up; Remove Ads turns those off.
How do I change my ad privacy choices?
On iPhone and iPad, ads are personalised only if you chose "Allow" in Apple's tracking prompt and, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, also agreed in the consent form; otherwise you get non-personalised ads. To change the tracking choice, go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Fishburg; the game checks it each time you come back, and the next ad follows it. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you can also open Settings → About → Privacy options in the game. On Android there is no tracking prompt: ads are personalised only in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland and only if you agreed in the consent form (change it in Settings → About → Privacy options); everywhere else they are non-personalised. You can reset or delete the Android advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the path differs between phones). The game works the same whatever you choose. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Gameplay
My fish died while I was away. What can I do?
A fish dies only after it has been hungry for 48 hours in a row. How soon a fish gets hungry after a meal depends on its species (between 6 and 24 hours). If reminders are on, the game warns you before a fish starves. Tap a dead fish to revive it with coins, with gems or by watching a rewarded ad. It comes back at the stage it was in. Before a long break, use Vacation Mode (from the Shop) to pause hunger, growth and glass dirt in a tank for three days.
How do I clean the glass?
Tap the sponge and drag your finger across the dirty glass. You earn coins for the area you clean.
How do I change the language?
Fishburg follows your device's language. You can pick a different one in Settings → General → Language.
